Boom Town: Marietta Daily Journal details Halpern’s newest mixed-use projects

Marietta Daily Journal - Boom TownDetails about Halpern’s two new mixed-use developments, Belmont and Jonquil, are revealed in a double-feature in this morning’s Marietta Daily Journal:

SMYRNA — The retail shops at Belmont are completely filled, and the residential units, both houses and apartments, are filling up fast as the Smyrna redevelopment project nears completion.

Belmont is a 48-acre mixed-use development at the corner of Atlanta and Windy Hill roads that Jack Halpern, chairman of Halpern Enterprises, hopes will bring business and job opportunities to Smyrna and “improve the quality of life for Smyrna residents.”

In May 2008, the city approved a development agreement with Halpern Enterprises for the redevelopment of the former Belmont Hill shopping center, which was hailed as the largest shopping center in the South when it opened in 1954. The center was demolished in 2009, but further development was stalled by the economic downturn.
