Matthew Oppenheimer Promoted to Director of Acquisitions; Cary Halpern Named Director of Construction

Matthew Oppenheimer has been promoted to Director of Acquisitions and Cary Halpern has been named Director of Construction.

Matthew joined Halpern as regional property manager before serving as an analyst and associate on the development team.

In his new role, Matthew will source, underwrite and perform due diligence on new acquisitions and oversee pro forma analyses for ground-up development pursuits.

“Since joining Halpern, Matthew has demonstrated leadership, business acumen and the ability to view opportunities through a wide lens,” said Steve West, vice president of development. “We’re confident in his ability to help grow our company.”

Cary Halpern began his career with Halpern as regional property manager before transitioning to development, where he was responsible for site selection, entitlements and budget development.

In his expanded role, Cary supervises construction projects, ensuring plans and activities comply with codes, lease agreements, budgets and schedules. He also manages bidding and entitlements, and makes value engineering recommendations.

“Cary continues to play an integral role in our leasing and development business,” said West. “His proven ability to manage both company and tenant expectations, and keep construction projects on schedule and within budget make him a natural fit for this position.”

Cary earned a bachelor’s in publication management from the University of Georgia. He is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers and a Certified Shopping Center Manager.

Matthew earned a master’s in real estate from Georgia State University and a bachelor’s in real estate finance from Indiana University. He is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers and treasurer of the Chamblee Doraville CID Formation Board.
