Halpern Unveils Latest Plans for Friendly and Hobbs Site

Developer Jack Halpern is now targeting March 2018 to open his mixed-use project at the corner of Friendly Avenue and Hobbs Road, and the latest conceptual plans reveal a shift in the residential component of the project.

Halpern, the chairman of Atlanta-based developer Halpern Enterprises, unveiled his plans for the prime commercial location at Wednesday’s meeting of the Rotary Club of Greensboro at the Terrace at Greensboro Coliseum. The plans now call for a 41,421-square-foot retail and restaurant complex, to be paired with 13 single-family homes.

A residential component to the project is not new, but the mix has fluctuated, with the last known plan showing 22 townhomes. Now earmarked for 13 single-family homes, the residential portion of the project would be built by another developer still to be contracted, Halpern told Rotarians.
